Michael Bluestein
Chairman of the Board
Mike Bluestein’s career has spanned over 50 years in the metals industry having led OWC through generational transition from what was a successful metals recycling business to a vertically integrated diversified metals company. Through his excellence for building relationships, honed as a top salesperson with Mass Mutual prior to joining OWC, and strategic expansion across the metals supply-chain, the company has experienced its largest period of growth in its history.
This leadership has spanned across the industry as Mike also served as Indiana’s ISRI Chair as well as recognized by the Governor with a Sagamore of Indiana award for his contributions personally and professionally. Mike has helped solidify OWC’s position amongst the top independently owned metals recycling businesses in this era of rapid consolidation across the industry. He has earned the respect by many in the industry and is beloved by his business partners.
Steve Bluestein
Executive Vice President
Steve Bluestein’s career in the metals business spans over 35 years and has a reputation for business development success. After Steve’s initial career as a sales leader within sporting goods, Steve brought his tremendous salesmanship and a creative thinking to OWC in 1985. It was Steve’s vision that led OWC to diversify into new steel and aluminum metals services setting the foundation for OWC’s most expansive era of growth in our history.
Steve’s unwavering commitment to our customer is a model of our most important core value we hold sacred today.
Steve Letnich
Chief Executive Officer
Steve brings 30+ years of leadership experience in the metals industry across mills, service centers, and value-added fabrication. He truly has iron in his blood, going back to the early 1900s when his grandfather began working at U.S. Steel. Steve has a strong track record of driving growth, operational excellence, and customer-focused innovation.
Most recently, he served as President of Coilplus, the service center division of MetalOne, which is the U.S.- based metal trading and distribution arm of Mitsubishi Corporation & Sojitz Corporation. Steve successfully led a turnaround with a strong emphasis on sales growth and operational improvement.
Earlier in his career, Steve held leadership roles at Outokumpu Stainless, Castle Metals, Central Steel & Wire, and Worthington Steel, where he developed and honed his approach to building world-class organizations.
Steve is a graduate of Purdue University, where he played quarterback for the football team, followed by coaching in his postgraduate years. His experiences in high-level athletics shaped his leadership style built on collaboration, accountability, a can-do attitude, and his personal motto: How do you spell fun? W-I-N.
Michael J. Lapczynski
Michael J. Lapczynski, CPA, is the Chief Financial Officer of Oscar Winski, where he leads the company’s financial strategy, planning, and operational performance. With more than 25 years of experience across manufacturing, distribution, and transportation, he brings a practical, data-driven approach to driving profitability, managing risk, and supporting long-term growth. He works closely with executive leadership to align financial performance with strategic goals, capital investments, and expansion initiatives.
Throughout his career, Michael has built and led high-performing finance, accounting, HR, and IT teams while implementing best-in-class financial systems and controls. His expertise includes forecasting, cash flow management, financing structures, risk management, and GAAP compliance. Michael earned his degree in Economics and Management from DePauw University (Class of 1996), where he was a member of the Men’s Basketball team and the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Outside of work, he is a proud husband and father of four great kids, and values family, teamwork, and balance as central to both his personal life and leadership approach.
David Bluestein
Executive Vice President
David graduated from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1997. He started his career working for Arthur Andersen in their Business Risk Consulting practice in both Charlotte, North Carolina and Chicago, Illinois. In 2004, David joined Oscar Winski and started his tenure within Finance and Accounting group. In 2008, David became Vice President of Oscar Winski Metals Recycling and continues to preside over this Division.
Alex Bluestein
Executive Vice President
Alex Bluestein is a seasoned industry executive with experience in both metals distribution and logistics. Having spent the early part of his career as a business development professional within internet marketing during the internet’s infancy of the early 2000s, Alex joined OWC in 2004. His early years with the company were spent in sales and management gaining experience across all facets of the business.
It was in 2012 that Alex led the startup of OWC’s Logistics division beginning OWC’s diversification beyond metals. Now Alex is applying that same entrepreneurial spirit into Strategic Business Development to identify and nurture new areas of growth for the company.
