LAFAYETTE, INDIANA— Lafayette Steel and Aluminum, a chapter member of the national organization Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI), is proud to announce that Cody Bates, Bryan Bronchik and Savannah Dice were the recipients of the annual MSCI scholarship.

This year, 75 young adults from all over Indiana applied for the MSCI scholarship, now in its third year. Twenty of the applicants were chosen to receive $1,000 scholarships from MSCI. Three of these recipients, Cody, Bryan and Savannah, were the sons and daughter of employees at Lafayette Steel and Aluminum. Bill Rothrock, VP, General Manager at Lafayette Steel and Aluminum and current President of the Indiana Chapter of MSCI, said, “we are proud of our employees and honored that their children can apply for— and win—this distinguished scholarship.”

Children of an employee of an MSCI member company can apply annually for this scholarship. The young adults applying must submit an essay about how the awarded money will be used, a grade transcript, community service hours, examples of their applied leadership, and the financial needs of the family.

Cody Bates, a three-year recipient, will begin his junior year this fall at Purdue University in Pre-Med, majoring in Neurobiology and Physiology.

Bryan Bronchik will be a freshman at Purdue University this fall and will be studying Pre-Med as well, with a major in Biology.

Savannah Dice will begin her freshman year this fall at Midway College in Kentucky, studying Accounting and Equine Business Management.

MSCI organizes fundraisers to raise the money for these scholarships. “We are proud to be a part of this prestigious national organization. MSCI is the industry’s leader, offering its members industry knowledge, business trends, and continuing education. It is great that these kids have taken the opportunity to advance their education, be positive contributors and be even better citizens,” Ron Addaman, Past President of the Indiana Chapter of MSCI, said on Wednesday.  Mr. Addaman was responsible for resurrecting the Indiana Chapter 10 years ago.
