Acquisition allows OWC’s youngest segments to greatly ramp up services.

Lafayette, IN—In a move that more than doubles their logistics and e-recycling capacities, the Oscar Winski Company (OWC) has purchased the former Caterpillar Lafayette Logistics Center located at 1451 Veterans Memorial Parkway East adjacent to the IU Health Arnett Hospital.

A leader in the metals-recycling industry for more than a century, OWC’s e-recycling (OWCe) and logistics (OWLogistics) divisions are only six years old, yet both have already outgrown their current spaces at 2217 N. 9th St. and 2813 Park East Boulevard, respectively.

The larger footprint allows us to greatly expand the scope and volume of our services, says David Bluestein, Vice President of OWC Metals Recycling, which oversees OWCe.” While OWCe assists corporations, schools and area residents with the safe disposal of their electronic goods, industrial clients typically turn to OWLogistics to optimize their manufacturing capabilities.

OWLogistics helps manufacturing clients reduce costs, improve reliability of service and meet production quotas and delivery schedules by offering Dock-to-line optimization™ services such as kitting, sequencing-to-production and sub-assembly.

“The number one advantage of this move is that it allows us greater potential to serve important clients like GE Aviation and Wabash National while affording the room to take on new customers as well,” says Alex Bluestein, Vice President of OWLogistics. “With this new space, we’ve got room to keep growing these newer OWC business segments and we’re excited to pursue larger opportunities in the near future.”

At 160,000 square-feet, the newly acquired building offers nearly four times the combined space of their current locations. Approximately half of that space will be utilized immediately leaving the remaining space for future strategic expansion.

OWLogistics has transitioned operations into the new building effective November 27, while OWCe will be fully transitioned by January 1, 2018.
